CARSON CITY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Governor Brian Sandoval is considering using state liquor taxes to back the state's debt.
Nevada property tax revenues have been declining since 2010. Now, the governor is looking for other funding sources to help with state debt and fund capitol improvement projects including using liquor taxes.
According to Bloomberg, state tax levies on alcohol sales have gone up in seven of the past eight years. Now, Governor Sandoval is considering using existing booze levies combined with $58 million in general obligation bonds to repair state buildings and pay back debt.
